Honoring Connor. Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea. Joy to you and me. December 02 2016, 0 Comments

Paying my respects to a very special 11 year old with this Mixed Media card. No words besides the ones above can really be thought of at this moment, for they all describe him. His wake is tonight and tomorrow is the funeral. I'm not able to attend either and wanted to let the family know that I was thinking of them. So I made this card for them.

Typically I make a beautiful sympathy card...and it looks just like a sympathy card would. This one does not. It looks like a "celebration of life" card. Or a card that honors a little boy named Connor, who creates in people's minds, the words of "Happy, Top Quality, Kind, Lovable, Joyful, Playful, Upbeat, Chipper, Sparkling, Amazing and Sweet".  His hockey jersey number 7 and his favorite colors, blue and orange are represented. The song lyrics are from "Joy To The World"...a song that I'm imagining most little kids have happily sang along to, as I know I've belted out a few "Jeremiah was a bullfrog" lines as a child.

So just like Connor, this card is upbeat and chipper and it's meant to honor him. It was one of the hardest cards I've ever had to make.

Thank you for reading my blog. Enjoy your day.
